Governor Tomblin Calls Legislature Into Special Session

Morgantown Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district to be focus of session 

    CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today issued a proclamation calling the members of the Legislature into its First Extraordinary Session, beginning upon adjournment, sine die, of the 2013 Regular Session on April 17, 2013 to address, among other items, legislation permitting the Monongalia County Commission to levy a special district excise tax for the benefit of the University Town Centre economic opportunity district. 

    The special session agenda will include the following:

FIRST: Legislation permitting the Monongalia County Commission to levy a special district excise tax for the benefit of the University Town Centre economic opportunity district.

SECOND: Legislation relating to compensation in the magistrate court system.

THIRD: Legislation relating to the distribution of state funds to volunteer fire departments in connection with the Volunteer Fire Department Workers’ Compensation Subsidy Program.

FOURTH: A supplemental appropriation bill

FIFTH: Legislation relating to the administration, collection, and enforcement of local sales and use taxes and excise taxes by the State Tax Commissioner and providing rulemaking authority.
